Meet Luke-ADOPTED
Hi, my name is Luke and I am an 11 year old gentleman and am located in COLORADO. My family took me to a shelter in Cheyenne and told them I had severe separation anxiety and that I was “tearing things up”. They wanted me euthanized (not sure what that is but I don’t think it’s good) but the shelter staff didn’t agree with them and contacted SSRI and asked for help. My foster mom picked me up three days later and she reports that she doesn’t see any signs of separation anxiety. She has even left me with free roam of the home when she is gone (one time it was almost 5 hours – I counted) and I haven’t “tore” anything up. I was depressed when I first got to her house but her two dogs and her loving care solved that problem. Now I am a happy go lucky kind of guy and am doing great.
My original family did take good care of me and kept me up to date on my vaccinations and got me neutered. I have the original AKC paperwork to get registered but they never registered me. The shelter tested me for heartworm and I am heartworm negative. I can tell you I don’t like fireworks and am not a great fan of thunder and lightning. The fireworks really bug me and I hide in my foster mom’s bedroom to get away from the noise.
I think the best fit for me in my new home would be with a family (at least a mom and dad, i.e. I gravitate toward men) and one that has at least one other dog. I like my doggie roommates and like to play romper room with them. We don’t get too crazy but we do like to wrestle together. I tend to favor men so would ideally like a dad in the house. I would do better with someone who is home more than they are away as I don't like being left alone for too long. A retired person or someone who works from home would be ideal.

They told me I should tell you that I recently went to the vet for a wellness exam and the vet said I was in good health. Though I am a senior I am told I don’t act or look like one. I’m not hyper at all but do have some energy and would like to spend the rest of my life living the good life in a home where there is love.
