Meet Jake - Adopted

Hi! My name is Jake and I am looking for my forever home. I came into the rescue because I was being bullied by the owner’s two dogs and they thought that I would do better in a different home.

I am 4 years old, neutered and up to date on all my vaccinations. I am housetrained and crate trained (my crate was my safe place at my original owner’s house). I do okay on leash but could use some reinforcement of good leash behaviors. I have a lot of energy and will need a fenced yard to run in. If you have a ball, I will chase it for hours if allowed to. I REALLY love m Kong bone! My foster dad gets tired after about ½ hour and says it’s time to stop (but I could go on and on if he would just throw the ball). My original owner told the rescue that I like to cuddle. My foster dad says that that is really true about me.

I do have to admit that I do have one naughty behavior – I counter surf and am really good at it. My nickname at my original house was Taker because I would take things. In my foster home I have been known to jump up onto the dining room table and have taken food items off the table (bad dog right!!). My foster dad doesn’t leave me alone in the house when he is working outside because he knows that I will get into something.

I am underweight because the owner’s dogs used to eat my food but I am slowly gaining weight. I am currently 30-35 pounds. I get along great with my foster dad’s dog and do not try and steal his food. I can be a little wary of people I meet on our walks but warm up to them pretty quickly when I know they are safe. I am unknown with cats.

The right people would be those who are active and have time for a very active dog. Did I mention that I am very loving dog. Did I also mention that I love to cuddle. I will need someone who wants a dog that is very affectionate because I like being by my human and like to get pats (a lot).
