Meet Archie - Adopted
Archie arrived as a stray at the county dog shelter in Salem, Oregon. He remained unclaimed and is now in a local foster home. We believe him to be 10 years old and in good overall health, with a tail that never seems to stop wagging! He came to us already neutered, and is now current on vaccines, microchipped, wormed and on flea medication.
Archie is an absolute delight in his foster home and is house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He is a delight to walk, as his leash manners are perfect. He also knows all the basic commands. Archie gets along great with the two male dogs (a Springer and a Cavie) in his foster home, although he is still learning how to play with them. Cats are unknown but in typical springer fashion he is very interested in squirrels in the park. When at the vet clinic, we did notice that he will bark if another dog starts up, but he has no more than a passing interest in calm dogs.
Archie needs a dental prior to adoption but is currently on antibiotics for an infection , possibly caused by worn down teeth. The surgery will be scheduled as soon as his bloodwork is good.
Archie came in underweight. He has already gained 3 pounds! He is currently 48 pounds and has a couple of more pounds to gain to get to his ideal weight. We know this will be no problem for Archie!
